SUMMARY
Thallus crustose, thin to moderately thick, wide-spreading or in patches, pale green-grey, sometimes tinged yellowish, often white-powdery, matt or glossy, smooth and even to cracked-areolate. Photobiont Trentepohlia.
Anamorph: no information available.
Teleomorph: ascomata lirellate apothecia, 0.5-3 × 0.3-0.5 mm, flat, ± level with the thallus, variable, scattered, elongate, straight, curved, stellate or dendritically branched. Disc 0.16-0.30 mm wide, widely exposed, the ends usually acute, brown to black, ± thinly white-pruinose especially in the centre of the thallus. Thalline exciple inconspicuous. True exciple thin, entire, continuous below the hymenium. Lateral walls 10-15 μm wide. Hymenium 90-120 μm tall. Interascal tissue of of paraphyses, unbranched, the apical cells clavate, brownish. Asci 8-spored. Ascospores (26-) 30-40 (-45) × 6-9 μm, with (5-) 7 to 9 (-10) transverse septa with lens-shaped cells, hyaline, soon becoming pale smoky brown within the ascus, I+ purple, without a perispore, gelatinous sheath or appendages.
Chemistry: thallus C–, K+ yellow→red (crystals), KC+ red, Pd+ yellow to orange (reactions often patchy), UV– (norstictic and connorstictic acids).
