SUMMARY
Anamorph: a microconidial morph with spherical conidia 1.5-2 µm diam. in culture was reported by Dennis (1962).
Teleomorph: Ascomata apothecia, erumpent in clusters from bark of recently fallen/cut trees, 8-20 (-25) mm diam., turbinate, conspicuously gelatinous. Disc ± flat, cream to pale violaceous, occasionally somewhat darker. Exciple concolorous or slightly darker, smooth, the flesh composed of narrow intertwined hyphae within a gelatinous matrix. Interascal tissue of filiform fairly thick-walled paraphyses ca 2 µm diam., unbranched, the apices not swollen. Asci 62-71 x 9-10.8 µm, narrowly clavate, the apex obtuse, the stipe tapering, croziers absent or inconspicuous, with an apical ring 1-1.5 µm diam. and 0.8-1 µm thick that blues in KOH/Lugol, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged irregularly, 7-8.5 x 3.5-4.2 µm, ellipsoidal to slightly fusiform-ellipsoidal, the apices obtuse to rounded, aseptate, hyaline, fairly thick-walled, smooth, biguttulate, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
