Stemonitopsis typhina (F.H. Wigg.) Nann.-Bremek. Image location: Big Thicket, Polk Co., Texas, USA These were rowing on an old log in mixed woods in the Big Sandy Creek Unit.
The spore size and ornamentation are also very close to what is reported in the handbook; “…faintly punctate with scattered clusters of dark warts, 6 to 8 micrometers in diameter.” Used references: Stemonitopsis typhina was suggested by Steven L. Stephenson as a better possibility for these.
