| Description |
English: A lichen - Physcia tenella. As discussed in the item 1042823, this species is rather similar to P. adscendens, which is shown here: 1050283.
Both species have hair-like cilia, but, instead of forming hoods, the ends of the lobes of P. tenella are curled up to expose cream-coloured soredia, which can be seen in this photograph; soredia are powdery granules that contain a few fungal and algal cells, and, when dispersed, they can develop (asexually) into new lichens.
