The native range of this species is Temp. Northern Hemisphere to W. South America, Rwanda to S. Africa, W. Indian Ocean. It is a perennial and grows primarily in the temperate biome. It is used to treat unspecified medicinal disorders, as animal food, a poison and a medicine, has environmental uses and for fuel and food.
