58.013 Gonepteryx rhamni (Brimstone)
ws: 60-74mm; overwinters as adult and can be found all year, peak Apr-May, Aug; alder buckthorn (Frangula alnus), buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica); common in England and parts of Wales.
ID: The yellow male is the original "butter-coloured fly". Distinguished from Colias croceus (Clouded Yellow) by its pointed forewing apex and hindwing termen and the absence of any black marks on the upperside. Female is a pale green with the same distinctive wing shape.
