Description:

Angelica archangelica, commonly known as garden angelica, wild celery, and Norwegian angelica, is a biennial plant from the family Apiaceae,
a subspecies of which is cultivated for its sweetly scented edible stems and roots.
During its first year, it grows only leaves, but during its second year,
its fluted stem can reach a height of 2.5 meters (just over 8 feet), and the root is used in flavoring preparations.
The legend wants it to be given as a gift to the people by the archangel Michael, hence its name.
From the 10th century on, angelica was cultivated as a vegetable and medicinal plant,
and achieved popularity in Scandinavia in the 12th century and is used especially in Sami culture.
Angelica is a shamanic medicine among the Saami or Laplanders.
The plant has various medical properties.

The root of the plant acts as an antispasmodic, antiperspirant, diuretic, expectorant, stimulant and tonic.
In external use, we use it in the form of ointment for soothing abrasions and skin diseases.

In the kitchen we use it to flavor broths and sauces, especially for chicken and fish.

Making tea: Boil a tablespoon of the root in a cup of water, leave it for 10-15, strain and serve. Drink 2-3 cups of tea a day.

Remember: Herbs are not a substitute for medicine. For their best and safe use it is better to consult your doctor.
