The Mirabelle is originally from Asia Minor and is a subspecies of plums. From growth and bloom it resembles the blackthorn. Mirabelle is popular because of its sweet fruits.
Tree profile
The leaves are ovate, the upper surface is smooth and dark green. The underside is lighter and slightly hairy. The leaf margin is serrated and the leaf arrangement is alternate.
The flower of Mirabelle consists of white umbels with usually 5 petals.
Stone Fruit: The fruit is almost round, up to 5 cm in diameter, bright yellow with red speckles. The Mirabelle tastes very sweet.
Young twigs are hairy.
