SPOROCARPS: short-stalked or sessile, red-brown.
PERIDIUM: double, the outer layer cartilaginous, red-brown, limeless, adhering closely to the membranous inner layer. Dehiscence into revolute lobes which show up brilliantly white on the inside.
COLUMELLA: prominent, pale, subglobose, smooth or rugose.
SPORES: densely verruculose , 10-12 µm diam.
