Taxonomic descriptions: Perrenial herb with thick rootstock and round leaved stem 1-1.5 m in height. The leaves are linear. Flowers are associated in compound panicles with a head bunch with long lacerated bracteate leaves.

Distribution:

Habitats type, Critical habitats, Limiting factors: The European-Mediterranean relict with disjunctive area. The species covers the Black Sea coast, wet seaside sands.

Biology: Flowering during VI-VII. Fruit-bearing - IX. Reproducing by seeds and vegetatively.

Population trends: Not numerous populations.

Threats: Drying-meliorated works, dwelling places destruction, creation of residental zones.

Conservation measures taken: The species is protected in the Reserve “Dunayskiye Plavni” (Ukraine).

Conservation measures proposed: To organized protected territories where it occurs.
