That is sweet!

Does one need to use the application do have cloud shadows enabled within the sim? i wonder if this would upset active sky next or rather.

Does it work over hilly terrain or just flat plains?

Affirm, as far as I can figure out, it's a bit of a cheat really. The shadows will only display when you enable your own layer of cumulus cloud in the weather tab. You then have to run the CumulusX module in the background (via the ALT menu at the top of the screen) and allow it to connect to FSX, and select 'smooth shadows' to display. It will then embed a layer of pretty low res large stationary cumulus clouds of it own at the altitude you've predefined, and only draw shadows for them, rather than your whole sky. A bit of a cop out compared to the P3D equivalent, yet still add a great visual effect in my opinion. Got the idea on another forum and am pretty happy with the results.

The full version (v1.9.0.1)

Just the flatter areas at this stage according to the manual. They tear on terrain above a certain angle, but work over the water too which breaks up all those too-perfect-to-be-realistic looking FSX reflections.

Another snap from a cloudy Hastings. Pretty good for an eight year old simulator.
