Highest local point.

Dull with heavy showers.

An opportunity for a nice little comparison page. Common Catsear (left) and Autumn Hawkbit (right) are currently growing side-by-side. Catsear flowers from May to October, and Autumn Hawkbit flowers from July to September. On casual examiniation they can appear quite similar, but attention to a couple of details will separate them easily.
The underside of the petals can give us a vital clue. Catsear is usually grey, whereas Hawkbit is often red. In some cases, however, they are both yellow underneath, so we need one final clue.
The leaves are quite different. Although there can be a bit of individual variation, the leaves of Hawkbit are always finer and more deeply-cut.
A small (2 cm) liverwort which is keying out to Riccardia sp., but I'm not happy with that. Work ongoing.

One of the Myxomycetes. Looks to be Badhamia panicea.
